What is therapy like?

Therapy is a process that involves working together to explore and address your concerns. This is done in a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where you can feel safe and comfortable to talk about your thoughts and emotions. I listen attentively to your concerns and provide guidance and tools to help you manage your challenges. Therapy is a collaborative effort, which means that we will work together to identify the root causes of your problems and develop effective strategies to overcome them. With therapy, you can gain a better understanding of yourself, develop new coping skills, and experience personal growth and healing.

How long does therapy take?

The duration of therapy varies based on individual needs and goals. It could be short-term (a few sessions) or longer-term, depending on the complexity of your issues.

What is individual/group/family therapy?

Individual therapy is one-on-one, group therapy is for 2+ people, and family therapy addresses family dynamics with members of the family group.

What is cognitive behavioral therapy?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a psychotherapeutic approach that emphasizes the identification and modification of negative thinking patterns and maladaptive behaviors to enhance mood and overall functioning. This form of therapy is grounded in the notion that our thoughts and beliefs influence our feelings and behaviors, and that by revising distorted or irrational thinking patterns, we can improve our mental health and quality of life. Through a collaborative and structured process, the CBT therapist helps the client develop cognitive and behavioral coping strategies that can be applied in real-world situations. CBT has garnered empirical support as an effective treatment for a range of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder, among others

What purpose does therapy serve?

Therapy offers a secure environment to explore emotions, develop coping skills, gain insight into behavior patterns, and pursue personal growth and healing.

Will my insurance cover our sessions? How does that work?

Do I pay at the end of each session?

Sessions are billed online with Simple Practice at the end of each week.

What if I cannot make it to a session? (Cancellation policy).

I have a cancellation policy in place. I require a 12 hour notice unless there is an emergency which I can make allowance for as needed.

How can I tell if you are a good match for me?

It’s crucial to trust your instincts and communicate with me openly about your needs and preferences to ensure that your therapeutic goals are met.
